Mark Travers shares what he’s found ‘incredible’ since joining Everton, it’ll ‘give everyone a lift’

Everton have made three signings so far this summer, bringing Thierno Barry, Carlos Alcaraz and Mark Travers to Merseyside.

Travers is the latest player to join Everton, arriving at the club on Tuesday to become Jordan Pickford’s deputy.

The 26-year-old, a Republic of Ireland international, has joined Everton from Bournemouth for a reported £4million plus add-ons.

He made his first Everton outing on Saturday, making an especially superb save in the 1-0 friendly loss to Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking after the game, Travers discussed his first impressions at his new club, along with his verdict on the brand new Everton Stadium.

Mark Travers hails ‘incredible’ Everton Stadium

Travers said he had a “really good first week” in his new surroundings, with his new colleagues all warmly welcoming him at the club.

He then praised the club setup and the fanbase, before touching upon the “incredible” new stadium, also known as Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“It’s really exciting,” Travers told the Everton media team. “It’s a massive team.

“Coming to Everton, it’s the fans, the fan base and the passion they show. It’s really exciting to be involved with that.

“I’m looking forward to giving everything I can and working as hard as I can for the fans and this club.

“It’s been great, obviously, coming and signing here, chatting to the manager and Dave (Lucas) as well, the goalie coach, and really positive stuff from them.

“They’ve shown a lot of belief in me, so I’m really excited to be an Everton football player and I’m really looking forward to working hard and giving everything I can.

“I’m new in the building the last week, but I can definitely feel that [positivity]. I’ve seen the stadium, how incredible that is. I think that will just give everyone a lift.

“The fans coming in for the new season there as well will be incredible. We’ll just keep working as hard as we can the next few weeks and building up for that season opener.”

Some Bournemouth fans previously said they wished Travers had stayed, and Everton fans can now see what the fuss is about after his solid display at Blackburn.

What Mark Travers thinks of Jordan Pickford

Pickford is not only an Everton legend, but he’s also an England icon in the same bracket as the likes of Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton.

Travers will be eager to push Pickford all the way, recently telling the Everton media team: “Jordan is an outstanding goalkeeper for club and country.

“I’m looking forward to competing with everyone here and being a Premier League player. Being in this environment is huge.

“We’re going to push each other every day in training and whatever happens on the weekend, we’re going to be there for each other and make the most of every opportunity that comes.”
