Former Rangers man Cammy Bell admits Celtic win vs Newcastle was ‘fantastic’
Bell was discussing Celtic’s pre-season preparations and was asked what he thought about the win over the Premier League side.
Even Bell couldn’t deny that he was left in awe of the Bhoys’ performance.
Bell told The Scottish Football Podcast, “Again, it was obviously at Celtic Park, so they were at home, they were in their own environment. So listen, Celtic are a very competitive team.
“We’ve seen them get progress within the Champions League last season. They are getting better, playing top opposition. And I think it’s early days for Newcastle as well.
“They won’t have been in long. Again, Celtic, again, have probably had a little bit longer training. But taking nothing away from that, it’s a fantastic result.”
Cammy Bell shares what Celtic are saying about Newcastle win
Celtic fans were delighted with Auston Trusty’s part in the win over Newcastle but Bell shares what the Hoops support are telling him about the victory over Eddie Howe’s side.
Bell continued, “It’s exactly what Brendan Rodgers would have wanted. It breeds confidence within the camp. Again, you’re beating a top side, as you say, a top European side.
“You’re beating them at home comfortably. So that can only breed confidence for them going forward. And Celtic have obviously got big matches to look forward to this season.
“And yeah, I think he’ll be happy with what he’s seen yesterday. And certainly I spoke to a few Celtic fans and they were happy with what they’ve seen on the pitch, the intensity they played at and yeah, a real dominant performance.”
The win will send Celtic to compete in the Como Cup high in confidence where the next pre-season game against Ajax awaits the Hoops.
