Aston Villa ‘to take call’ as Nicolas Jackson transfer news emerges

This story includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar.

Aston Villa have been linked with a move to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, with Manchester United also linked with him.

Dr Rajpal Brar has issued his verdict on the 24-year-old’s recent fitness issues ahead of a potential move this summer.

The Senegal international has been at Chelsea for two years, moving to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Jackson’s hamstring injury may derail a transfer this summer

Villa may decide against signing the Blues forward amid his recent hamstring injury, according to Dr Brar.

Aston Villa have been linked with Jackson, but no move has yet been made for the former Villarreal attacker.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News“Villa may take a closer look at his recent hamstring injury to assess healing, see if it’s related to previous injuries and/or recurring or if there’s any increased wear than anticipated.

“In case they find red flags, they may opt against signing him.

“The possibility of that does exist, especially given the high transfer fee it’s likely to come with.”

Aston Villa must abandon their pursuit of Jackson

Aston Villa must steer clear of signing Jackson, as the Chelsea striker’s £80million+ valuation is inflated given his inconsistent output.

Despite scoring 17 goals last season, his conversion rate reveals a lack of clinical finishing.

His competitive streak, while spirited, often manifests as petulance, evidenced by eight yellow and two red cards, risking unreliability in high-stakes matches.

The Villa Park outfit, under Unai Emery, need a dependable forward to complement Ollie Watkins, not a player who yields inconsistent returns.

Investing in Jackson’s high wages and transfer fee is a gamble that could disrupt Villa’s balanced squad, especially with Champions League demands looming.
