Hamilton finished third behind Norris, who was puzzled when asked to let teammate Oscar Piastri pass for his first Grand Prix win on Sunday. Despite leading most of the race, a strategic decision favored Norris. After the race, a slightly tense conversation between the two Brits was caught on camera and shared on social media.
In the cooldown room before the Hungarian GP podium, Hamilton, seated while Norris entered, commented to the McLaren driver, “Phew, you guys are fast.”
Norris replied, “You had a fast car seven years ago…”
Hamilton responded, “Seven years ago? That’s a long time. Were you even here seven years ago?”
Norris, now in his sixth season since debuting in 2019, answered, “Yeah, well, you had a quick car, and you made the most of it. Now it’s our turn.”
Confused, Hamilton clarified, “I wasn’t complaining, I was just complimenting your car.”
