West Ham have not made ambitious move to beat Aston Villa to Chelsea outcast

West Ham have not made an ambitious enquiry to beat Aston Villa to a Chelsea outcast after the mis-reporting of an update from a journalist with strong contacts at all three clubs.

West Ham and Aston Villa can only watch on as Chelsea do the kind of transfer business they could only dream of this summer window.

Fans of both the Hammers and Aston Villa are desperate to see their club sign at least one new striker.

West Ham and Chelsea were heavily linked with signing Jhon Duran from Villa for the best part of a year.

But the fiery Colombian ended up going to Saudi and has now ended up on loan in Turkey at Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

At West Ham, Graham Potter has released Danny Ings and sent Evan Ferguson back to Brighton after his disastrous loan.

With Michail Antonio’s Hammers future in doubt, it leaves former Chelsea target Niclas Fullkrug as the only senior striker on West Ham’s books.

Signing strikers has also been a top priority for Chelsea.

West Ham fury over imminent Wilson signing

But while PSR is an issue restricting transfer activity for both Aston Villa and West Ham, Chelsea have no such problems.

And it has shown with the signings of dream Hammers target Liam Delap and Joao Pedro among many others at Stamford Bridge.

There has been utter bemusement in West Ham circles today after one of the players most affected by Enzo Maresca’s striker overhaul was suddenly at the tip of a transfer triangle involving the Blues, the Hammers and Aston Villa.

But West Ham have not made an ambitious move to beat Aston Villa to a Chelsea outcast after comments from a top journalist were misconstrued.

Hammers fans are up in arms right now as ageing, injury-prone striker Callum Wilson closes on a controversial move to east London.

Hammers News exclusively revealed West Ham expect to sign free agent striker Wilson after his Newcastle exit.

Hammers News understands there is now just one hurdle left to clear before Wilson joins the Hammers.

The move for Wilson, who turns 34 next season, has sparked an angry backlash from many Irons fans.

Some fans hope a shocking revelation from Newcastle may give West Ham cold feet over Wilson.

Amid fan outrage over the potential signing of Wilson, though, West Ham suddenly found themselves in the conversation for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

In fact West Ham circles on social media have been abuzz with the claims the club will move for Jackson.

So much so that some fan accounts have been compiling statistical analysis charts on what Jackson would bring to east London.

Aston Villa have been linked with Jackson, but no move has yet been made for the former Villarreal attacker.

The Daily Mail’s Aston Villa reporter Tom Collomosse has also delivered an update on Villa’s reported interest in signing much-maligned Jackson.

West Ham have not made move to beat Villa to Jackson

The 24-year-old Senegalese forward has become a figure of fun in the Premier League for his often erratic finishing at Chelsea.

But Jackson still possesses an excellent record of 30 goals in 81 appearances over two seasons in west London.

Hammers News can clarify that Telegraph journalist Matt Law has been completely misquoted over West Ham’s interest in beating Villa to Jackson, who finds himself third choice striker after Maresca’s summer overhaul.

Law is a Villa fan but is The Telegraph’s Chelsea reporter, who also has strong contacts at West Ham – a club he has frequently covered in the past.

Speaking on the London Is Blue podcast, Law was discussing Jackson and Villa’s interest.

Top journalist misquoted but Hammers do want Dewsbury-Hall

He then moved on to a question about the future of Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – who has been linked with the Hammers ever since Potter’s arrival in January.

“West Ham I think have some level of interest in him,” Law said of Dewsbury-Hall NOT Nicolas Jackson, as has been incorrectly reported and shared by a plethora of West Ham accounts.

“I think West Ham would be more interested in a loan and I don’t see Chelsea wanting to loan him. He’s too good a squad addition for them to loan albeit they would definitely sell him if the conditions were met.

“I’m not sure what those conditions would be. He’s a funny one because… he’s proved a worth to them… but they’d definitely sell him if the right offer comes along… Fulham and West Ham are certainly teams I’ve heard of interest from.”
