Former Alabama basketball guard reportedly waived by NBA team

According to an announcement by the organization Thursday afternoon, the Boston Celtics have reportedly waived former Alabama Crimson Tide guard JD Davison.

Davison recently concluded his third season with Boston, the same organization which drafted him with the No. 53 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA draft.

Over those three seasons, Davison appeared in a combined 36 games with the Celtics, averaging only 5.5 minutes per contest. Davison also averaged a combined 1.9 points per game on 38.5% shooting from the field, as well as 28.1% from three and 69.2% at the free throw line.

The former Alabama guard is also coming off a career-year where he was named the 2024-25 NBA G League MVP. Playing with the Maine Celtics, Davison averaged 25.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on 48.2% shooting from the field.
