Adventureland charged after inflatable pirate ship collapsed

The scheme will run on select weekends throughout August.

It will operate on Sundays – August 3, 10, 17 – and Saturday, August 30, as well as the full bank holiday weekend from Saturday, August 23 to Monday, August 25.

The service will run from the University of Sussex campus in Falmer, offering parking for at least 500 vehicles.

Dedicated buses will transport passengers directly to Marlborough Place in central Brighton.

Councillor Trevor Muten, cabinet member for transport and city infrastructure, said: “Introducing a new Park and Ride scheme was one of the top priorities for this council, and I’m delighted we’re going to have this service for the summer holidays. Summer weekends are a busy time in Brighton and Hove.

“The new Park and Ride will give people travelling into the city an easy and affordable option to park up and take dedicated buses into the city centre, hassle-free.

“The new scheme will also give us the chance to monitor, learn and improve, with a view to developing a permanent Park and Ride after the summer.

“I’d like to thank the University of Sussex for helping us to deliver this. Partnership working is the key to us being able to unlock the city’s potential.

“Park and Ride has been a vital component of our city-wide strategy to give our residents and visitors affordable and sustainable travel options, and I’m excited to say we’ll be delivering on our promise very soon.”

Buses will run every 15 minutes from 9am to 9pm.

The £7 charge covers parking and all passengers in the vehicle.

Payment can be made via the PaybyPhone app, phone, or website.

The scheme is a partnership between Brighton and Hove City Council and the University of Sussex.
