Newcastle United seemingly need a new top-class number nine.
Indeed, Alexander Isak could be on his way out, so Newcastle do need a new centre-forward to lead the line.
Luckily, help could be on the way.
Benjamin Sesko has been linked to Newcastle, and according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on Dazn, this deal is one that could well happen.
The journalist says that there’s now a 50% chance that Sesko will go to Newcastle, but, frustratingly, there’s also a 50% chance that he will head to Manchester United instead.

Benjamin Sesko to Newcastle has a 50% chance of getting done
Romano shared what he knows about Benjamin Sesko and a potential move to St James’ Park.
The journalist rated Sesko’s chance of joining Newcastle at 50%, claiming that a move to Manchester United is equally likely.
Sesko has been labelled ‘world class’ in the past, via the BBC, so this would certainly ease the pain of losing Isak.
“For Benjamin Sesko I will give you a double percentage. 50% for Newcastle and the other 50% is for Manchester United,” Romano said.
“The two clubs are in a fight for Benjamin Sesko. I think this will be the story of the week alongside Alexander Isak. This is the domino of strikers so if Newcastle decide to let Alexander Isak go it’s because they want a new frontman and a new top striker, Benjamin Sesko is the player they want
“They already spoke to the agents of the player, they are prepared to pay whatever it takes to get Sesko.”
Which team should Benjamin Sesko join?
Sesko is at a bit of a crossroads here as he has to choose between Manchester United and Newcastle.
A move to the Premier League does appear to be on the cards for the forward, but which team should he join? There are pros and cons of each move.
Pros of signing for Manchester United | Cons of signing for Manchester United |
Big wages | No Champions League football |
More historic club | Benjamin Sesko has never played in a 3-4-3 system |
New signings have arrived | Finished 15th last season |
Pros of signing for Newcastle United | Cons of signing for Newcastle United |
Champions League football | Disastrous summer so far |
Fans adore number nines | Alexander Isak future unclear |
Suits Eddie Howe’s style of play | Historically less successful |
Won a trophy last season |
Manchester United are, historically, the bigger club, but they can’t offer Champions League football right now.
Meanwhile, Sesko would suit Eddie Howe’s style of play, but this has been something of a disastrous summer for Newcastle so far, so that may put the striker off.
This race appears to still be very open at the moment, and it remains to be seen where Sesko will end up this summer.
