TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Everton are doing in order to bring Douglas Luiz to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.
The Toffees have got a few signings over the line this summer, but overall they’ve not been as busy as some of their rivals.
Thierno Barry, Carlos Alcaraz and Mark Travers have joined, while a host of players have left as David Moyes looks to reshape his squad.
The opportunity has now arisen for Everton to potentially sign Luiz, an Aston Villa cult hero whose Juventus stint hasn’t exactly gone to plan.
TBR Football can also confirm which other Premier League clubs are after Luiz, what his stance is towards a return to England, and what ace the Toffees have up their sleeve.
Everton pushing hard for Douglas Luiz amid ‘desperate’ desire to return to England
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Everton and Juventus are talking terms over a move for Douglas Luiz.
The Toffees want a loan deal with an option to buy Luiz, who is desperate to return to England and is now assessing his options.
Everton are pushing hard to get a deal done, and The Friedkin Group are helping in talks with Juventus, given their Italian connections.
A host of clubs are keen on Luiz, but David Moyes firmly believes this is a great chance for Everton to add an outstanding talent.
Everton’s transfer team, led by Nicky Hammond, is on board and trying to get a deal done.
West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest are all circling, but Everton are pushing hardest at this point.
His former club Aston Villa do like him, but they are yet to get involved.
“Everton see Luiz as a very good opportunity,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“He had a tough season in Italy and wants to return to England and David Moyes wants him.
“Luiz is considering his options but Everton are pushing.”
Douglas Luiz comes with Roy Keane seal of approval
Luiz made a real name for himself at Villa after joining from Manchester City for just £15million back in 2019.
He made 204 appearances for the Villans, registering 22 goals and 24 assists, but the club went on to sell him in 2024 amid PSR concerns.
Although Luiz’s time at Juve hasn’t been particularly fruitful, he has proven he has what it takes to shine in the Premier League.
“I like Luiz,” Roy Keane previously said of Luiz. “He is consistent. Turns up week in and week out. You know what you are going to get from him.
“I like a lot about him. Probably lacks that real pace maybe. In terms of his decision-making and looking after the ball. Very, very good.”
With Everton starting a new era at Bramley-Moore Dock, he would be an exciting, Premier League-proven, high-profile signing who would get fans off their seats.
