Everton may have already identified the perfect alternative to Tyler Dibling.
The Toffees have been chasing the signing of the Southampton youngster over the last few days, but appear to have hit a wall in their attempts to bring him to Merseyside.
Everton have seen three bids for Dibling knocked back by the Saints, and are now understood to be turning their attention elsewhere in order to explore other potential targets.
David Moyes’ side have made a sensible decision by stepping away from what was becoming a big-money pursuit for the 19-year-old, and they have now found an alternative who is much more proven at the top level.

Everton make enquiry to Juventus over Nico Gonzalez
Southampton made it clear that Dibling was going to cost Everton in excess of £40million, which would certainly have been a steep price for a player with such limited senior experience.
It was no surprise to see them take a step back from negotiations after those demands became clear, and that could prove to be a very smart decision from them, given the deal that could now be on the horizon.
The Toffees are understood to have been in contact with Juventus over a possible move for their out-of-favour star Nico Gonzalez, according to Tutto Sport (7 August).
The Italian giants are looking to sell the widemen on a loan-to-buy deal, and both Everton and Fulham have put themselves forward as possible candidates.
- Gonzalez notched just five goals and four assists for Juventus in 2024/25
- He hit 38 goals in three seasons for Fiorentina before that move
- The Argentine is primarily a winger, but he can play anywhere across the frontline
Gonzalez struggled to make an impact in his debut campaign in Turin last time out, but he had an outstanding three-year stint with Fiorentina prior to that move.
If Moyes and his coaching team could get the Argentine back to playing his best football, he could be a devastating option for them to add to their attack.
Dibling is undoubtedly a hugely talented prospect, but it will be hard for the Toffees to overlook the immediate quality that 27-year-old could bring.

Gonzalez would surely be interested in Everton move
Moyes has made it clear that Everton still need further additions to their ranks if they are to achieve their aspirations of climbing the table this term.
That need is particularly prevalent in the attacking areas, where further creativity is a must if they are to progress as a side.

Gonzalez is somebody who would be capable of providing that, and with his future at Juventus seemingly fading a way, he would surely be interested by a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The forward is reportedly keen to push for a place in the Argentina squad at the 2026 World Cup, and that would surely require him to continue playing at a strong level of football.
He has already rejected proposals from Saudi Arabia, so the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League would surely be a welcome one.
If Gonzalez could get his career back on track at Everton, it would likely bring him into consideration for his World Cup dream.
