Newcastle United have missed out on the signing of Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United.
Eddie Howe has had a really frustrating window so far. The Toon boss was interested in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and now Sesko, but all of them snubbed him.
Yoane Wissa seems to be Newcastle’s only target who is ready to join them, but the Toon need another centre-forward if they cannot convince Alexander Isak to stay.
A new name has come out of the rumour mill now.
Samu Aghehowa linked with a move to Newcastle United
Samu Aghehowa has made a tremendous name for himself in recent years.
The Spaniard first caught the eye while playing for Alaves, on loan from his then-parent club Atletico Madrid in the 2023/24 season.
At the end of that campaign, Samu was sold to Porto, and he became a star there.
The 21-year-old scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, which is exactly what Isak managed at Newcastle United.
After facing rejection from Sesko, the Magpies are looking for reinforcements, and the BBC’s Sami Mokbel has claimed that Samu is one of the names he has heard is on Newcastle’s radar.

He said on the Latte Firm: “The situation they’re in at the moment, it’s unsustainable, and if it stays this way, they will have no option. They will just have to sell him (Isak).
“And I think the machinations of them trying to get – I know they’ve lost out on Sesko now – but they’ve turned their attentions now to probably Ollie Watkins, maybe Nicolas Jackson.
“The other name that I’ve heard for them is Samu from Porto.
“So it does seem like they’re determined to get another in, that’s without Yoane Wissa, who is probably going to be Callum Wilson’s replacement.”
How much will Samu Aghehowa cost Newcastle United?
Samu is Porto’s prized possession.
The Portuguese giants signed the striker for £12.7 million, but his former club, Atletico Madrid, still owned a part of his rights.
In July, after a very successful debut season, Porto paid an additional £10.4 million to purchase the complete rights to the Spanish forward.
FC Porto have now agreed deal to own 100% of Samu from Atlético Madrid.
FC Porto activated the option to buy 15% for €5m and also negotiated to buy the remaining 20% for €7m.

Having spent that much, Porto are not going to let Samu leave for a small fee.
The Dragons will reportedly demand a whopping €80 million for their star striker if any interested club comes forward.
Newcastle definitely have the money to meet those demands, but whether they will do so to land Samu remains to be seen.
