“Xavi Simons remains” – Florian Plettenberg provides fresh update on Chelsea’s pursuit of RB Leipzig star

Chelsea are staying patient in their pursuit of Xavi Simons, with the deal still on according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The Blues have been busy this summer and and have already made four signings in Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

However, Chelsea aren’t done there, and the Blues are looking to add another two attackers to their squad for the upcoming season.

Chelsea are working on deals for both Simons and Alejandro Garnacho, but are yet to make an official offer for either player.

The Blues are said to be in advanced negotiations for Simons, with RB Leipzig said to want a total package of £60m.

Chelsea reportedly want to agree a fee of around £50m for Simons, and as of yet there’s been no breakthrough between the clubs.

Simons is believed to want to join Chelsea, but it was reported Manchester City had entered the race earlier this week.

The longer the deal drags on the more chance there is of another club potentially hijacking the deal, but Plettenberg has provided an update.
