Exclusive:Bilal El Khannouss truth as Newcastle United agree transfer ahead of Aston Villa opener

Newcastle United will sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa – but have no interest in this other former Premier League attacker.

Is this the week Newcastle United save their transfer window?

Malick Thiaw trained with his new teammates today, having chosen Tyneside as his next destination, amid competition from the likes of Bayern Munich. It’s been a rare treat in a summer that has left many feeling battered and bruised with the lingering taste of rejection.

But they’re not done there. Newcastle have agreed a deal for Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa. But, despite it being as good as sorted, it remains to be seen whether the deal will be rubber stamped before the weekend, given the Premier League opener is between NUFC and, er, Aston Villa.things stand, that looks to be Newcastle’s only midfield addition this summer, with the club always looking to fill the gap left behind by Sean Longstaff.

The rumour mill has served up some wild and wonderful links in recent weeks, as it always does at this time of year, including suggestions of interest in the likes of Lucas Paqueta, of West Ham. However, those reports are wide of the mark, with the player not featuring on any of the recently redrawn transfer hitlists.

And another one to crop up in recent times is that of Leicester City No.10 Bilal El Khannouss. NewcastleWorld understands the Magpies have no interest in the Moroccan, despite agents pushing Newcastle as a potential destination this week. No doubt, the mention of NUFC is to drive a deal for others to put their money where their mouth is, with recently promoted Leeds United monitoring the attacker’s situation

That will come as a disappointment to some, given the reaction to links on social media. However, it is Ramsey who will fill that void, offering a much more attacking alternative to Longstaff in the No.8 role for United, as well as offering an option off the left-hand side, should they need it.

this is a deal NUFC are trying to do this week. They want the striker in before Aston Villa. Hopes remain a deal can be done in that timeframe, but it’s tight, given the situation that needs to unfold for it to be green lighted.

The deal is largely done in principle with Brentford, but replacements need to fall in place elsewhere for it to happen.

Alexander Isak to Liverpool?

This is not the Alexander Isak replacement Newcastle have been seeking, but does take the pressure off that department, with Anthony Gordon set to start the game at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Isak’s exit remains live, at the time of writing, with Liverpool likely to make another bid before September 1.
