Newcastle United have less than one week to get new signings completed before they start their Premier League season against Aston Villa on August 16.

The Magpies have made two signings so far, with Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale joining Eddie Howe’s squad, but we could be in for a dramatic end to the trading period. Alexander Isak has told United he wants to leave, although a bid from Liverpool was swiftly rejected.

Newcastle are focusing on potential replacements Brentford’s Yoane Wissa high on their wishlist, while they could be set to strengthen their defensive options by signing AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw.
