Newcastle United receive message ‘out of Wolves’ about signing Jorgen Strand Larsen

Newcastle United now know where they stand with regards to their interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding Newcastle’s deal for Yoane Wissa, other strikers are being targeted.

It has been reported that Newcastle are interested in Strand Larsen, who is keen on a move to St James’ Park.

The issue is Wolves and whether or not they are a willing seller. They have already done quite a bit of selling this summer, with Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait Nouri joining Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

Unfortunately for Newcastle United, Strand Larsen might not be allowed to follow them out the door at Molineux.

Newcastle United told Jorgen Strand Larsen is not for sale

While Newcastle are interested in buying Strand Larsen, Wolves are not interested in selling.

That is according to TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, who has provided an update on Strand Larsen’s future on YouTube.

“I’ve been told they’ve actually done character checks with former Wolves coaches on Strand Larsen,” he said.

“But the message I’m getting out of Wolves is loud and clear. He is not for sale. He is our main source of goals. It would take a big offer from Newcastle to prise Strand Larsen away from Molineux.

“This just highlights the frustrations and the difficulty Newcastle are having ultimately to enable Alexander Isak to join Liverpool.”

The one thing Newcastle United will not do with Jorgen Strand Larsen

Newcastle United want to buy Strand Larsen, at a time when it is absolutely essential that a striker arrives at St James’ Park.

However, Newcastle will not be held to ransom. They are not going to pay over the odds to get the Norwegian striker, which might be what is required to get him away from Wolves.

Vitor Pereira’s side are firm on their Strand Larsen stance. They do not want to sell him, and it would take a huge offer for them to change their mind.

While Newcastle are capable of making a big offer, that does not necessarily mean that they should.

The Magpies continue to search for value in the transfer market, and are not going to start panicking now. That will likely mean that Strand Larsen does not join Newcastle United, while Eddie Howe will look elsewhere for a striker.

Wissa remains an option for Newcastle, while a second forward will be required to allow Alexander Isak to leave for Liverpool.
