Liverpool’s academy continues to produce elite talent, and 19-year-old striker Jayden Danns is already turning heads, with academy manager Rob Page predicting he could become the next England No.9.
Danns, who has scored three goals in ten first-team appearances under Jurgen Klopp, has impressed both on and off the pitch. Now under Arne Slot, the young striker’s progress shows no signs of slowing down, and Page believes his rise could be meteoric.
“I’ve got Jayden Danns here as well, who’s probably going to be the next England No.9 in years to come,” Page told talkSPORT. “Their attitude is exemplary. They’re grounded, humble, and a credit to their families.”
The Liverpool forward, son of former EFL midfielder Neil Danns, first grabbed attention with a FA Cup brace against Southampton in February 2024, followed by a goal against Accrington Stanley last season. Although a back injury disrupted a loan spell at Sunderland, Danns has returned to Merseyside stronger than ever.
He isn’t the only academy star making waves. 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha recently stole the spotlight with a dramatic 97th-minute winner against Newcastle, showcasing the depth of talent in Liverpool’s youth ranks.
Page, who managed Wales’ senior team from 2020 to 2024, has embraced his return to youth football and insists working with Liverpool’s next generation has been rewarding. “Liverpool is a special club, and working with the next generation here has exceeded my expectations,” he added.
With Danns’ combination of skill, temperament, and professional attitude, comparisons to England captain Harry Kaneare already being drawn. Fans of both Liverpool and England could soon witness the rise of a striker destined for the very top of the game.
If he continues on this trajectory, Jayden Danns could become a household name, cementing Liverpool’s reputation for nurturing world-class talent while giving England a new focal point up front.
