Al-Nassr Eyeing £120,000-a-Week Aston Villa Star in Surprise Transfer

Aston Villa star Pau Torres could be on his way out of the club in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, according to reports – with Saudi outfit Al-Nassr adding him to their shortlist in a bid to strengthen their defensive ranks. Villa have only signed Yasin Ozcan and Zepiqueno Redmond as youth options this summer, as well as Marco Bizot as a backup option for Emiliano Martinez – and incomings will be needed to turn their summer around.

But alongside Martinez and Ollie Watkins, who have been linked with moves to Manchester United, they could also see Torres depart if a bid lands from the Middle East for his services.

The report by journalist Santi Aouna states that despite talks continuing with Kim Min-Jae on Al-Nassr’s behalf, Torres is also on their shortlist as they aim to replace Athletic Bilbao-bound Aymeric Laporte.

He’s an alternative prospect to the South Korean, who has been at Bayern Munich for two seasons, having joined from Napoli where he massively impressed under Luciano Spalletti, taking home the Serie A title.

Torres may not have similar honours when it comes to trophies won, but he’s been an integral part of Unai Emery’s Villa side, helping them qualify for the Champions League and becoming an established European-qualifying outfit over the past two seasons.

Whilst it’s not known how much a deal would cost for the former Villarreal man, it’s likely that a huge wage being on offer from the Saudi Pro League outfit could be enough to tempt him to make the move, as many have before him – despite being on £120,000-a-week at Villa.

Torres joined Villa in 2023, scoring twice in his first season at the club as they finished fourth in the Premier League, before featuring last season as they qualified for the Europa League on the final day of the season.

Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Lamare Bogarde are the defensive options should Torres leave, but with 24 caps for Spain and a wealth of experience in top-flight and European football at the age of 28, Emery would be loathed to see his compatriot depart for the Middle East.
