Arsenal turned down offer to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson

Arsenal News

Arsenal have had a good transfer window with high-profile signings.

The Gunners started the month with the purchase of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

They have since confirmed the arrivals of Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke.

Cristhian Mosquera has also undergone his medical and looks poised to join the club pretty soon.

HandofArsenal, who exclusively broke the Mosquera story, has now revealed that the Gunners were recently offered the opportunity to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson through his agent Ali Barat.

Barat has already done business with Arsenal, having acted as an intermediary in Noni Madueke’s transfer from the Blues. The agent also offered the services of Jackson, but the Gunners declined the proposal.

Arsenal made the right decision on Jackson

The Senegal international signed for the Blues from Villarreal two years ago. He had a decent debut season with 14 league goals, but his performances dropped off last term.

He managed only 10 goals in the top flight, and just one of those came after the turn of the year. Jackson played just 98 minutes during the recent Club World Cup and did not score.

The 24-year-old squandered almost 25 big chances across all competitions last season. Keeping this in mind, Arsenal were right to snub the opportunity to secure his signature this summer.

The Blues obviously want to offload him, having recently signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro to bolster the centre-forward department. They are reportedly looking for a staggering £100 million to sell him.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have their sights fully on landing the signature of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede is determined to join the Gunners, having rejected Manchester United.
