Aston Villa have reportedly opened talks over a move for RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda as Unai Emery prepares for a potential Ollie Watkins departure as Man United circle.

Man United are stepping up their pursuit of a new striker and are understood to have Watkins, 29, high on their shortlist along with Benjamin Sesko.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Emery has identified RB Leipzig striker Openda, 25, as a potential replacement should Watkins leave.

Villa reportedly had an eye on the Belgium international several months ago but were unwilling to make a move while Watkins was still at the club.

It’s understood that the club will demand a fee of around £45 million for them to consider selling the prolific England international.
