The French midfielder has firmly established himself as a pivotal figure in our side with his influential and classy performances in the heart of our midfield, and he will continue to do so under Unai Emery.
Although there were still two years to run on his previous deal, Villa have officially announced that Kamara has put pen to paper on a contract extension to stay with us until June 2030.
At 25 years of age, he has what will hopefully prove to be the best years of his career ahead of him, and so this is a major coup for Villa to put an end to speculation over his future and show that both sides remain committed to each other for the long run.
Having established an effective partnership with Youri Tielemans in our deeper midfield pivot, the pair will once again be hugely influential in the upcoming campaign to help us remain competitive and pursue our objectives, while Villa will now be able to continue to build around a core piece in the side, rather than having to find a replacement.
Kamara has made 97 appearances for the club, a tally that would have been significantly higher but for a serious knee injury he suffered the season before last, but having put that firmly behind him, he’ll hope to go from strength to strength moving forward and play a pivotal role in our push to continue to qualify for Europe and climb the standings while also competing for silverware.
It’s been a quiet summer thus far for Villa in the transfer window as we’ve made savvy signings of talented youngsters with not much in the way of reinforcements to make a more immediate impact for Emery, with the priority being to get our financial situation in order so as to comply with PSR and SCR.
While it’s still hoped that we’ll see incomings before the new season starts next month, this was a crucial piece of business for the club to conclude, and it’s a brilliant development to see Kamara commit his future to us and hopefully continue to play a prominent part in our progression and bid for success.
