Aston Villa Want to Hijack Move for ‘Magnificent’ £52m Star After Deal Agreed

Aston Villa are considering a surprise summer move to sign Lyon winger Malick Fofana, according to CaughtOffside.

The Villans are reportedly looking to add the promising 20-year-old winger to their squad and hijack Nottingham Forest’s pursuit after the City Ground outfit agreed a deal with Lyon.

Lyon’s financial troubles are likely to force several expensive departures this summer, and Fofana’s exit could well ease their financial burden, as he is one of their most valuable assets.

The French side are reportedly demanding a transfer fee of up to €60m (£52m) for the ‘magnificent’ winger, who only joined from Belgian side Gent 18 months ago.

According to CaughtOffside, Lyon are ready to evaluate incoming offers for Fofana, with multiple Premier League and European clubs closely following his situation.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Napoli are all rumoured to be interested, with the Serie A winners reportedly considering an offer worth around €30m.

Fofana has emerged as one of the most talented left-wingers in Europe during his 18 months at Lyon, where he has scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 62 appearances so far.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a prolific debut Europa League campaign last term, registering eight goal contributions in 10 games, including an assist in the quarter-final against Manchester United.
