Benjamin Sesko already turned down move to Man United after manager was vetoed

A potential move for Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United currently appears unlikely – particularly in light of the striker’s previous comments.

United have been actively searching for a new centre forward throughout the summer, but their efforts have so far proven unsuccessful. The club missed out on Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea, Viktor Gyokeres, who is on the verge of signing for Arsenal, and Hugo Ekitike, who has completed a move to Liverpool.

Attempts to secure other targets such as Victor Osimhen and Ollie Watkins have also proved fruitless. As a result, United have turned their attention to Sesko, who was previously in talks with Arsenal before negotiations broke down and the Gunners pivoted to Gyokeres instead.

According to German outlet BILD, RB Leipzig are now willing to consider offers in the region of £60million for Sesko. However, any chance United have of finalising a deal may depend on whether the Slovenian forward has changed his stance on the club.

United first expressed serious interest in Sesko in 2023, following his breakthrough campaign at Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 18 goals in all competitions. He ultimately chose to join Leipzig and later hinted that concerns about United’s style of play were a significant factor in his decision.

“The thing is, I wasn’t really involved in these kinds of conversations [about which club I would sign for]. But I think it was better to come [to RB Leipzig],” he said in 2024.
