Benjamin Sesko is reputedly desperate to join Manchester United despite Newcastle United showing equal desperation toward signing the striker.
The Reds are confident that Sesko prefers a move to Old Trafford after bidding €75million (£65.5m) plus €10m (£8.7) in add-ons. Newcastle have offered a deal worth more overall than that proposal, but the player will ultimately decide between them both.
Man United are now closing in on Sesko and hope to complete their fifth signing of this summer transfer window, adding to Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon, Enzo Kana-Biyik and Matheus Cunha. The latest reports in Germany make for positive reading.
“Transfer decision made for Sesko” reads the headline of an article in Bild, the country’s most popular newspaper. They report that the expectation is of an official decision today (Thursday).

Representatives from Man United and Newcastle are said to be in Leipzig, having checked into city centre hotels. They are there to convince the player and his club in person rather than over the phone.
The publication also shares details about the respective offers, which are guaranteed to reach £74million. Newcastle’s offer reportedly has more realistic bonuses, although final negotiations are reputedly necessary, with a preference from Leipzig for add-ons regarding appearance milestones rather than Champions League trophies.

Man United’s advantage, though, is from the player’s purported desperation to join. The club is still said to hold enormous appeal for Sesko and something he wants to be a part of.
Bild describes the striker as a professional with impeccable character, and they state in no uncertain terms that Sesko will leave Leipzig for the Premier League. Doing so would see the player fulfil his dream of playing in the league, with his debut potentially coming at Old Trafford against Arsenal, the team who have tried signing him in each of the last two summers.
