Penn State has officially announced the addition of former Nittany Lion defensive tackle and University of Albany head coach Greg Gattuso to the coaching staff in 2025.
Gattuso will serve as a defensive line assistant under new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, whose defense relies heavily on the performance of the front seven.
Gattuso was the head coach of Albany from 2014 to 2024, where he had an overall record of 54-69 as well as leading the team to a CAA (Coastal Athletic Association) Championship in 2023 after going 7-1 in conference play.
Prior to his stints at Maryland and Pittsburgh between the years of 2005 to 2013 as a defensive line coach and tight ends coach, he was incredibly successful as the head coach of Duquesne for 12 seasons. He won multiple conference championships and finished with a career record of 97-32 overall and 67-7 in conference play.
It’s safe to say that Gattuso knows how to win, and his experience as both a player and defensive line coach will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the Penn State coaching staff in 2025.
