According to The Chelsea Chronicle, Chelsea’s long-running pursuit of Michael Olise has taken another dramatic twist — just as Liverpool and Manchester City circle ahead of what could be one of Europe’s biggest transfer battles of 2026.
Since swapping Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich in a €60 million (£52 million) deal back in 2024, Olise has exploded into one of the most complete and dangerous wingers in Europe. The 23-year-old Frenchman’s stock has skyrocketed thanks to his blistering form in Germany — and now, the Premier League’s elite want him back.
A Meteoric Rise in Munich
Olise’s numbers speak for themselves. Last season, he racked up a jaw-dropping 20 goals and 23 assists across all competitions, firing Bayern to yet another Bundesliga title. He’s already carried that form into the new campaign, notching five goals and six assists in just 10 matches.
Such output has put him firmly on the radar of England’s top clubs.
- Chelsea view him as a perfect fit for Enzo Maresca’s new attacking philosophy.
- Liverpool, now under new management after Jürgen Klopp’s exit, are pushing for another dynamic forward to freshen their frontline.
- Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is also reportedly a huge admirer, impressed by Olise’s intelligence, versatility, and relentless work ethic.
Chelsea’s Emotional Link
Chelsea’s pursuit is personal. Olise spent seven years in the Blues’ academy before joining Reading and later Crystal Palace. Despite rejecting Chelsea’s £35 million move in 2023 to stay at Palace — and their failed 2024 bid as Bayern swooped in — the London club never lost interest.
Now, they’re hoping for a reunion — though Bayern aren’t making it easy.
Bayern’s Relentless Stand
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund made their stance crystal clear on Sky90:
“We’re not under any pressure. We can imagine Michael staying here for the next seven, eight, or nine years. He has shown his quality and made huge progress.”
With Olise tied down until 2029, Bayern are even planning new clauses to further secure his future. Sporting chief Max Eberl added to BILD:
“He still has more than three and a half years left. We want him to help shape Bayern’s future — the longer, the better.”
Only a Mega Offer Will Do
Insiders claim Bayern won’t even consider talks below €100 million (£86m) — a figure that would test even the Premier League’s financial giants.
Still, Chelsea, Liverpool, and City are all watching closely. If Bayern’s stance softens, the battle for Olise could explode into one of the headline transfer sagas of next summer.
