Chelsea preparing initial offer for €60m man – Newcastle United could be pushed aside

Throughout July, Newcastle United have been repeatedly linked with a move for Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini, but Chelsea are now emerging as candidates to sign the versatile defender.

Tuttomercatoweb report that with La Dea having sold Mateo Retegui, and with Ademola Lookman also close to joining Inter Milan, they are not too keen on moving Scalvini on.

Despite that, the 21-year-old continues to attract the attention of clubs in England and Chelsea are closely monitoring his situation. The Blues are said to be preparing an initial offer for Scalvini as they attempt to close a deal for him quickly.

It is unknown how much Chelsea could offer for the Italy international, but the report indicates that Atalanta want a fee of over €60m to consider Scalvini’s sale.

Ivan Juric’s side have no pressure to sell and have clear ideas regarding his future.

Corriere di Bergamo reported earlier this month that €50m from Newcastle United would not be enough for Atalanta. The Magpies would have faced a very difficult route to Scalvini generally, and even more so with Chelsea involved.
