Everton ‘Make Contact’ to Sign ‘Special’ £30m+ Premier League Star

Everton could spring a surprise move for Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey in the coming weeks, according to reports – with Toffees boss David Moyes having ‘sounded out’ a move for the England under-21 international in a bid to improve the attacking contingent of his squad.

Ramsey has somewhat struggled for minutes at Villa over the past year, especially when Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio were added on loan in the January transfer window, and with Villa potentially needing to raise cash to avoid any punishments from the Premier League, the Hill Dickinson Stadium could be his next destination.

The report by the Daily Mail states that Everton have now joined Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Ramsey, having ‘sounded out’ a move for the Villans academy graduate, who has been called ‘special’ in the past.

The 24-year-old is thought to be ambitious to make a step up from Europa League qualifiers Villa, should he be forced to leave the west Midlands outfit this summer, with Unai Emery’s side harbouring concerns over their Premier League Profit and Sustainability regulations, and so he is happy to bide his time for the right move.

Having already signed midfielder Charly Alcaraz to play in the hole, as well as young Villarreal striker Thierno Barry to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Toffees now want to strengthen their attacking ranks after boasting one of the strongest defences in the league last season, and Ramsey would fit the bill in that regard, with a reported price tag of over £30million.

The 24-year-old made his debut in Villa’s Championship season, though it was only in the lockdown season of 2020/21 that he became properly embroiled in first-team endeavours, making 22 appearances under Dean Smith as they finished 11th in the Premier League. Ramsey took off from there under Steven Gerrard and Emery, becoming a dependable member of their squad as they began their European crusades.

Although minutes dried up after an injury last March, he’s already made 134 appearances at Premier League level with a further 30 in all competitions, including 10 in the Champions League. Everton would utilise him alongside Dwight McNeil, Iliman Ndiaye and Alcaraz in the final third, adding goals and creativity to their ranks as a result.
