Everton offered transfer hope again despite journalist’s absurd comments

If Everton fans were looking for the merest glimpse of hope in a slow transfer window, then look no further than journalist Gianni Balzarini.

Bianconera News cover some quite, let us say interesting quotes from the journalist today, regarding the future of Douglas Luiz.

For those now in the know, the Brazilian is expected to leave Juventus this summer after a miserable year at the club following a big move from Aston Villa last summer.

Several Premier League clubs are believed to be interested, including Everton, who need signings for David Moyes this summer after several departures from the squad he inherited in January.

West Ham have also shown an interest, and reports have had them tussling back and forth over the midfielder for the best part of three weeks.

Occasional reports have put Everton out in front for various reasons, without a deal ever seemingly stepping forward and being done, but Balzarini may have an answer for that.

“Douglas Luiz’s agent is in England, he’s touring English teams—not to London to visit the Queen’s Palace, but he’s touring the King’s Palace, because now the King is here,” he said.

“Once upon a time there was the Queen, now there’s the King. Everton, however, has an advantage over other teams, other clubs. There’s a feeling that the deal could be concluded soon.”

So, at least according to the journalist, it seems Everton may be forced to wait as Luiz’s agent seemingly goes on a Great British Tour and draws up interest from Premier League clubs as well.

The positive is that Balzarini is at least getting the sense that Everton might prevail, although that line has been parroted by others for at least a week and nothing has come of it as yet.

Perhaps they can sway Luiz’s agent with a proper tour of Liverpool, visiting the sights so he can add some other historical sights to his collection once he’s been to the Palace?
