Fabrizio Romano says it’s now more likely Alexander Isak joins Liverpool than stays at Newcastle

Alexander Isak to Liverpool now looks set to dominate headlines for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

Despite having spent almost £300m this summer, the Reds are still not done and could be about to pull off the biggest deal in Premier League history.

Arne Slot’s team remain intent on bringing the Swedish striker to Anfield, and a British record deal is being prepared.

The 25-year-old’s chances of getting his dream move to Liverpool have now been rated, and at this stage, things are looking optimistic from his perspective.

Alexander Isak to Liverpool is at 60 percent

Fabrizio Romano claims that the current likelihood of Alexander Isak to Liverpool is at 60 percent.

The Italian journalist claims that the Reds are optimistic about the deal, but there remains plenty of work to be done.

Romano told DAZN Football: “For Alexander Isak, in terms of percentage for Liverpool, it’s at 60 percent. It’s quite optimistic, but there is still work to do, 40 percent to go before we can say Isak is going to be a Liverpool player.

“But Liverpool have all the intentions to go strong for this deal. Liverpool already made contact with Newcastle two weeks ago.

“Liverpool are prepared to make a Premier League record-breaking bid for the 25-year-old, but are waiting for Newcastle to give the green light.”

TBR Football understands that Newcastle are split internally over selling Isak, with some keen to keep hold of him, but others accepting they can’t keep an unhappy player.

The striker, for his part, has made it clear to the Tyneside club that he only wants to join Liverpool, despite interest from the Saudi Pro League.

“Liverpool are speaking with Newcastle because they would be ready to make a record proposal in the Premier League for Alexander Isak,” added Romano.

“The player is very keen on the move, the player informed Newcastle about his desire to leave, he’s not considering Saudi or any other option, there were rumours of Manchester United, Arsenal, and only Liverpool.

“It now depends on Newcastle, if they want to open doors for his exit, Liverpool will be ready to make something historical and sign Alexander Isak.”

Benjamin Sesko’s move to Newcastle is likely to determine how willing the Tyneside club will be to let Isak go, with the Slovenian the clear first-choice replacement.

Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko move could scupper plans

Sesko is believed to favour Man United at this stage, which could be a concern for both Liverpool and Newcastle.

Eddie Howe has requested Sesko’s signing, so if they are unable to land him, that could impact their willingness to do a deal for Isak.

The 22-year-old striker has been impressed by Man United’s desire to sign him, as per Florian Plettenberg.

But the Toon are not backing down and remain firmly in the race, with RB Leipzig demanding £69m for the forward.
