Poland has made the first major move ahead of next year’s 2026 United Cup, with Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkaczofficially committing to the mixed-team event. The announcement marks the beginning of what promises to be another electrifying chapter for Team Poland — a side that’s been knocking on the door of glory for the past two years.
Poland Makes It Official — Swiatek & Hurkacz Back in Action
Scheduled for 2–11 January 2026, the United Cup will bring together 18 nations across Perth and Sydney for a thrilling mix of men’s and women’s competition. The event, which offers AUD $17 million in prize money and 500 ATP and WTA ranking points, has become a highlight of the tennis calendar since its debut.
Swiatek — fresh off her sixth Grand Slam title and recent Wimbledon 2025 victory — will once again spearhead Team Poland. Speaking about her commitment, the World No. 2 said:
“It’s always an honour to represent Poland. I love the team atmosphere, the fans, and the excitement the United Cup brings. It’s unlike any other tournament.”
With a 14–2 singles record at the event, Swiatek remains one of the competition’s most dominant players. Her teammate, Hubert Hurkacz, echoed her enthusiasm, saying:
“I really enjoy representing our country. The team spirit, the Australian crowd — it’s all special. We can’t wait to compete again.”
Two-Time Finalists Hungry for Redemption
Poland has been agonizingly close to United Cup glory. In 2025, they fell to Team USA’s Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz, while in 2024, they lost a nail-biting final to Germany after holding championship points.
This time, Swiatek and Hurkacz are determined to rewrite that story. The duo’s chemistry — combined with their world-class form — makes Poland a strong favourite to lift the trophy.
