It seems Newcastle United aren’t making many friends this summer with their attempts to sign new players.
Manchester United have accused Brentford of trying to push Bryan Mbuemo towards Newcastle rather than them, irking the formerly great club.
Now it seems Eintracht Frankfurt aren’t best pleased with how Newcastle tried to conduct their business when trying to sign Hugo Ekitike.
The twist is that Newcastle did things the right way, and that’s what has upset Frankfurt.

How dare Newcastle try and conduct business in a proper manner?
According to German publication Sports BILD (via Sport Witness), Frankfurt had said that any club making an offer for Hugo Ekitike would have to have an agreement in place with the player first.
That is not how transfers are traditionally done. Indeed, talking with a player of another club is classed as tapping up and is supposed to be outlawed.
I guess there’s a loophole here in that Frankfurt are technically giving permission for other clubs to speak to Ekitike, but it’s still a backwards way of doing things.
Ekitike to Newcastle was never going to happen
Newcastle apparently weren’t aware of Frankfurt’s wishes and simply made their bid before speaking with Ekitike, according to this report.
They also claim that Ekitike had no intention of moving to Newcastle, a nd when Liverpool came along, that was where he wanted to go.
It once again seems like Newcastle were never on Ekitike’s career path, so it’s time we just leave this one absolutely alone, even when Liverpool are trying to get rid of him next summer after being a colossal flop. Which would be amusing, let’s be honest.
