Health Issues: “Fallon Sherrock Stuns Fans With Brave Decision to Step Away From Darts: ‘I Need to Get Myself Well First’”

Fallon Sherrock — the trailblazing star who changed the face of darts — has announced she will take a break from the sport in 2026, opening up about the health struggles that have quietly tested her strength off the oche.

The 30-year-old, affectionately known as the Queen of the Palace, made history in 2019 when she became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Championship. Since then, she’s carried the hopes of a generation — inspiring young players, breaking barriers, and standing toe-to-toe with the world’s best. But behind the bright lights and cheers, Sherrock has been fighting a battle few knew about.

In a heartfelt interview with Online Darts, she revealed she’s been dealing with kidney issues that have persisted since the birth of her son Rory in 2014. Those health challenges, she admitted, have made it harder to maintain the energy and focus that once defined her game.

“I feel like it’s my B-game right now,” she confessed. “If I’m going to have a year out next year, I want to make a bang this year. I need to get myself well — and then the sky’s the limit.”

Despite battling fatigue, Sherrock’s spirit remains unbroken. She’s been forced to cut back on practice hours and even withdraw from some exhibition events, but her passion for darts burns brighter than ever.

“It’s tough because I love darts,” she said. “All I want to do is practise for a few hours a day, but I can’t right now. I’ve had to narrow down what I play in — and that hurts.”

For fans, it’s hard to imagine the sport without Sherrock’s trademark smile, confidence, and clutch finishes on the biggest stages. But her decision to prioritise health is a reminder that even champions need to recharge.

True to form, though, Fallon isn’t closing the book — just turning the page.

“Fingers crossed that in a couple of years’ time, I’ll be alright and back to winning well,” she said.

Her words carry the calm of someone who’s been through storms before — and knows how to fight her way back.

So while she may be stepping away for a while, one thing is certain: when Fallon Sherrock returns, the darts world will be watching — and cheering — louder than ever.
