Manchester United have agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko ahead of Newcastle United, with Fabrizio Romano giving the move his trademark ‘Here We Go’ signature.
The talisman had been linked with a move to the English top-flight last summer with Arsenal, Chelsea and the Red Devils all thought to have been in the market for his signature.
However, he signed a new deal, instead plying his trade at the German outfit for another campaign, scoring 21 goals in 45 games in all competitions. But a move to the Premier League is now on, and he is set to move to Old Trafford.
Romano: Sesko to Man Utd is ‘Here We Go!’
The Slovenia hero will finally play in the Premier League after years of links
That hasn’t stopped interest in his services, though – and with United needing a new striker after some poor performances from Rasmus Hojlund over the past year, Romano has posted on X (formerly Twitter) that they’ve finally been able to agree a fee with Leipzig, whom he wanted to leave after they failed to qualify for any European competition whatsoever alongside a poor campaign in the Champions League last time out.
Man Utd will pay an initial €76.5m (£66.3m) plus a further €8.5m (£7.3m) in add-ons, and the player has been given permission to travel to Manchester to complete his medical before putting pen to paper on a deal until 2030.
Sesko, who joined Leipzig from sister club RB Salzburg after some strong performances in Austria, has become one of the leading strikers currently on the market after a flurry of attackers moved clubs earlier in the campaign.
