Latest Arsenal transfer news with an update on Viktor Gyokeres as the Sporting CP striker edges closer to sealing his move
Viktor Gyokeres is expected to arrive in London on Friday to finalise his £63.5million move to Arsenal, it has been reported. The 27-year-old has agreed to sign for the Gunners on a five-year deal after another impressive season at Sporting CP, where he scored 54 goals and provided 13 assists in 52 appearances.
Although he received interest from Manchester United and Juventus, among others, Gyokeres made it clear that he wanted to make the move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Indeed, the Sweden international failed to turn up to pre-season training at Sporting in an attempt to force through a move.
Should a deal go through without more issues, Gyokeres’ probable debut date would be against Tottenham in Hong Kong on Thursday, July 31. The Gunners face Newcastle United in their second pre-season fixture on Sunday, following Wednesday’s 1-0 win over AC Milan, but that is expected to come too soon.
Gyokeres is expected to become Arsenal’s latest transfer addition after Cristhian Mosquera’s £17m deal is confirmed. The 21-year-old centre-back has been spotted alongside some of his new teammates in Singapore and is closing in on a move to the Gunners, having made 41 appearances for Valencia last season.
