Everton have made an offer to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to journalist Gianni Balzarini, and the Brazilian could be the ideal partner for Idrissa Gueye.
Adding another central midfielder could be a major priority for the Toffees after Abdoulaye Doucoure left the club following the expiration of his contract. Orel Mangala, who spent the 2024/2025 season on loan from French side Lyon, has returned to his parent club, with Everton opting against signing him on a permanent deal.
David Moyes’ side recently jetted off to the United States of America for their pre-season tour, and it was a thin squad considering the lack of transfer activity so far. Mark Travers and Thierno Barry have both signed on the dotted line, while Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move was turned permanent.

Described as ‘world-class’ by Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, Luiz could be a smart addition to Everton’s midfield. Although it’s not quite worked out for him at Juventus, the quality he showed during his time in the Premier League with Villa proves he has what it takes to flourish at this level.
