Leeds United have already made their most important signing; the stats from the AC Milan game prove it

With the new Premier League season rapidly approaching, Leeds United’s draw against AC Milan proved that their most important piece of transfer business is complete, as one new signing stood tall.

After ending their pre-season campaign with a draw against AC Milan, Leeds United can now turn their attention to the new Premier League season.

Although the Whites have completed their preparations on the field, plenty of work remains off the field as Daniel Farke still needs several reinforcements to strengthen his squad.

Leeds’ hunt for a striker continues, with a multitude of names linked with the club as their prolonged courtship of Rodrigo Muniz has failed to bear fruit.

However, although Farke insists Leeds need to strengthen, the performance of new signing Anton Stach in the game in Dublin shows that they may have already completed their most important signing of the summer.

Stats prove Anton Stach’s importance for Leeds United

Leeds’ final pre-season friendly ended in a morale-boosting 1-1 draw, and former Hoffenheim midfielder Stach was the star of the show for the Peacocks.

According to the match stats from FotMob, Stach was at the heart of everything good that Leeds did as he controlled the game in midfield.

Stach was calm in possession, making 72 touches and maintaining a pass accuracy of 89% from 53 passes. He also had four touches in the Milan box and made five passes in the final third.

At six feet and four inches tall, Stach will also play an important role in defence for Leeds, and this was evident against Milan. He made two headed clearances, won his only aerial duel and made four recoveries as Leeds looked solid defensively.

He capped his performance off with a brilliant goal, curling in with his right foot from the corner of the 18-yard box.

As he left the field, LUTV commentator and Leeds legend Tony Dorigo said that Stach showed “all the qualities we’re going to require in this coming season” in a vote of confidence for Leeds’ new hero.

New Leeds signing is excited about the new Premier League season

Speaking to club media after the game, Stach reflected on the experience of playing in front of a sold-out Aviva Stadium in Dublin, which was packed full of Leeds fans.

According to Stach, the Leeds fans can play a crucial role in pushing the Whites to safety in their return to the top flight. He said: “It’s unbelievable. It was like a home game for us. I looked around and I only saw the colours of the club.

“It’s so nice, and that’s why I’m so excited for the next game, for our first home game in the Premier League. I think the fans pushed us really hard today.

“We’re all excited, I think we’re ready for the season as a team and I think the fans as well yeah they just want the game. We are very excited, we’re looking forward. We have to work a lot now and take the good energy of the game, of course, and then I hope we get our first three points.”
