We’re looking at starting with Yang, Idah and Maeda

Celtic need to get new players in, it’s inexcusable to start this season weaker than we finished the previous campaign…

The last 24 hours has seen us linked with more players as yet another approach for Go ahead Eagles winger  Jakob Breum has been reportedly rebuffed, whilst we have supposedly sounded out Manchester City about the possibility of bringing in young defender Jahmai Simpson – Pusey on a loan deal.

The Michel – Ange Balikwisha saga has dragged on

The Michel – Ange Balikwisha saga has dragged on with any deal for the Belgian now looking extremely and increasingly doubtful, whilst there’s been no further news on the other potential targets we’ve been rumoured to have been interested in.

So it looks ever so likely that we won’t be welcoming any new additions in time for the opening of our campaign which kicks off this coming Sunday, and that has set alarm bells ringing.

Yes we will most likely bring in new recruits before the window shuts in early September, but the brutal reality is that we will start this new season much weaker than we finished the last. And there’s also a £40m Champions League qualifier just under a month away – fail to prepare and prepare to fail is the way most Celtic supporters are thinking about that. If it turns out that way then it will be quite simply unforgivable.

Celtic failed to replace Kyogo in January

Celtic failed to replace Kyogo in January, and we’ve done nothing to fill that void over the summer break. Nicolas Kuhn has also left with the club receiving a decent fee of £17 million, but we have so far failed to reinvest that money on a couple of quality replacements despite having plenty of time to do so.

That’s a lot of goals and assists being taken from the team, and failing to replace that and starting the new campaign much weaker is quite frankly inexcusable. Who starts at right wing on Sunday? Probably Yang who has been elevated by the board’s inaction on incoming deals while happy to flog Kuhn for £17m.

Perhaps Marco Tilio will get his first start in a competitive match for Celtic?

Maybe James Forrest, the 34 year-old veteran who really only should be an impact sub these days surely. Or perhaps Marco Tilio will get his first start in a competitive match for Celtic ahead of his rumoured move to Rapid Vienna.

Who will play through the middle? Johnny Kenny or is he being sold too? Adam Idah, despite being off the boil in his pre-season appearances? Shin Yamada for a quick style Celtic debut or maybe Callum Osmand for his first ever senior level match? Probably Daizen Maybe then but if so who plays on the left wing with Jota injured and Maeda needed through the middle.

Yang, Idah and Maeda

My guess is that the Celtic front three on Sunday against St Mirren will be Yang, Idah and Maeda. What could possibly go wrong?
