Luton vs Tottenham LIVE: Pre-season friendly result, latest updates and reaction after goalless draw

Tottenham’s second pre-season fixture of the day ended in a goalless draw against Luton Town. Just hours before taking to the pitch at Kenilworth Road, a Spurs squad that featured the likes of Heung-min Son, Cristian Romero, Richarlison, Lucas Bergvall and Pedro Porro drew 2-2 with Wycombe Wanderers at Hotspur Way.

Pape Matar Sarr was the unlikely hero for Thomas Frank’s side as he scored twice, but none of his team-mates taking part against the Hatters could replicate his feat. Though, summer signing Mohammed Kudus came close as he saw a first-half effort cleared off the line while Will Lankshear missed a golden chance to win it right at the end.

On a day that saw the north London outfit held by two League One sides, Frank was able to give players as many minutes as possible heading into the new season. Next up for Spurs is their pre-season tour of Asia where they’ll face a step up in opposition against Arsenal and Newcastle. Follow the game back below with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog!

Tottenham held to goalless draw

Tottenham’s second pre-season fixture of the day ended in a goalless draw against Luton Town.

Summer signing Mohammed Kudus was on show at Kenilworth Road and he came closest to breaking the deadlock in an otherwise dull first-half of the second friendly.

Played in by Mathys Tel – getting his first pre-season minutes after representing France at the U21 European Championships earlier in the summer – Kudus’ effort beat former Spurs keeper Josh Keeley but Christ Makosso got back to make an excellent goal-line clearance.

Tottenham had Antonin Kinsky to thank for not falling behind early in the second half while at the other end, Kudus almost forced a winner with his final touch of the game but the hosts managed to scramble the ball clear.

A raft of changes from both sides in the final 15 minutes resulted in the game become rather disjointed, although Will Lankshear – who scored in the win over Reading last week – spurned a great chance to win it for Spurs right at the end but rolled his effort wide of the post.
