Manchester United, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest initiate contact for defender – Red Devils could have meeting soon

On Monday, Tuttomercatoweb reported interest from Manchester United, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest in Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo.

The defender impressed in the 2024/25 season for La Viola and also came close to a move to Napoli in January, but ended up staying at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

This quick progress has attracted interest from the Premier League and now, La Repubblica also report about interest from Manchester United, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest.

The newspaper indicates serious offers could land on Fiorentina’s table in the coming days and negotiations can also take place.

Manchester United play the Florence club in a pre-season friendly on the 9th of August and La Repubblica note that talks for Comuzzo can take place around that game.

The Red Devils, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland are said to have already enquired about the 20-year-old, with RB Leipzig and AC Milan also interested. Only offers over €30m will be considered.

The report claims that Comuzzo is happy at Fiorentina and is unlikely to ask for a transfer. His current contract runs out in the summer of 2029 and there is an option for an extension for another year.

The article from La Repubblica feels like a PR piece to indicate how highly-rated the defender is. Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Manchester United could well be interested but a formal attempt seems unlikely.
