Mason Greenwood has posted on social media after he had an altercation with Tyrone Mings during the pre-season friendly between Marseille and Aston Villa on Saturday.
Marseille won the match 3-1 at the Stade Velodrome, with Greenwood opening the scoring in the fifth minute.
Former Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then netted a second-half brace, having returned to European football this summer following a stint with Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah
Mings then got involved and grabbed the Marseille forward by his shirt, as players from both sides rushed in to break the scuffle.

The pair weren’t the only ones to clash at Stade Velodrome, with Villa boss Unai Emery less than happy with the nature of the tackles – including by Greenwood – that Marseille players were making.
Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi addressed a furious confrontation between the pair on the touchline, telling reporters after the match: “The match was heated but that’s also what people came to see. They paid to come, they could have gone to the beach.
“With Unai, he complained about my players, and I didn’t like that. It’s up to me to talk to them; the opposing coach must look after his players.

Mason Greenwood made one non-negotiable request ahead of his first interview since leaving Manchester United.
Last summer, United finally parted ways with Greenwood after agreeing a deal with Ligue 1 side Marseille for a reported fee around £26.6million.
The Englishman had not played for United since January 2022, when he was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault,
Now, six months after his transfer to the French club, Greenwood has conducted his first sit-down interview, and he had one request before doing so.
After his arrest in January 2022, Greenwood was released on bail and seven months later he was charged in October 2022 with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault, despite denying any wrongdoing.
In February 2023, all charges against Greenwood were dropped, and later that year he made his return to the pitch while on loan with Spanish club Getafe.
But now, according to Goal, ahead of his interview with French outlet Telefoot, Greenwood asked not to be asked about any prior events in his private life and would only discuss professional matters about actions on the pitch.
Instead, the interview focused on his time at Marseille, which has proved to be successful after he found, leading to him scoring 13 goals in 20 appearances and winning the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award for December.
Speaking about his first match at the club, the 23-year-old said: “I had goosebumps during my first match at the Velodrome. It’s exceptional. They sing for 90 minutes straight, I’ve never seen that before.”
When asked about his plans for the future, the winger that he hoped to stay with Marseille, adding: “Stay here for many years? Of course. It’s something I’d like to do, I want to win trophies here and play in the Champions League. It’s a big ambition to be here, so yes.”

Finally, Greenwood also addressed rumours that he could be re-united with former United teammate Paul Pogba, who has been linked with a move to Marseille following the end of his doping ban.
“He’s a great man, professional, who has taken me under his wing,” Greenwood said of the rumours.
“He’s a top player. Any team in Europe would love to have him. If he came here it would be great.”

Nike have confirmed they have not rekindled their relationship with Mason Greenwood after the Marseille forward was spotted wearing their boots.
Greenwood, 22, moved from Manchester United to France this summer after a successful loan spell with Getafe last season.
The Bradford-born forward saw his charges for attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault dropped back in February 2023.
Greenwood has enjoyed a strong start to life in Ligue 1, having netted five goals in as many games for his new side.
He has since been pictured wearing Nike products once again following his move and the sportswear giant have been forced to make a statement on the matter as a result.
Contacted by The Daily Mail recently about Greenwood, Nike simply responded: “Mason Greenwood is not a Nike athlete.”
According to the report, the former United player was set to sign a new contract with Nike before they made the decision to drop him in February 2022.
It has been reported that he was paid no compensation for losing the deal but was owed outstanding bonus payments.
Greenwood scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for United before being suspended by the club.
He returned to Carrington only for a short period to discuss his future in the summer before a transfer to Marseille was soon facilitated.
His past has been widely discussed by the French media, with the 22-year-old asked multiple questions during a press conference after signing for the French giants earlier this year.

“I understand the questions, I don’t want to talk about it too much or get into debates and controversies,” he began.
“I already spoke about it on Thursday with the supporters and I spoke about it last season. I want to move forward, I want to be part of Olympique de Marseille.”
Greenwood continued: “My intention is really to concentrate on the football part. The staff and players told me about the foundation, associations and hospital visits and like the other players I will participate in these initiatives.
“This season I will try to play well for Marseille, at the Velodrome in front of fantastic fans. I have been waiting for this for a while and I can’t wait to play in front of this crowd. For the moment I am focused on what I have to do with my club.
