How much Man City are now ready to pay to sign Newcastle’s Tino Livramento after making ‘fresh approach’

Alongside his Newcastle United teammate Alexander Isak, Tino Livramento has been in the news throughout the summer.

Manchester City are big fans of Livramento as they hold the stance that he would be the perfect replacement for Kyle Walker, who completed a move to Burnley a few weeks ago.

However, unlike in the case of Rayan Ait-Nouri, it has been easier said than done for City to sign another one of the standout full-backs in the Premier League.

Newcastle intend to extend Livramento’s contract in an attempt to prevent the Sky Blues from trying to prise away one of their best players.

Man City willing to pay more than £50m to sign Tino Livramento

With Tino Livramento capable of performing at a high standard as both a right-back and a left-back, it is easy to see why Manchester City are desperate to sign him.

While Matheus Nunes has impressed Pep Guardiola and so has Rico Lewis over the years, the pair are both midfielders while the Magpies defender is a natural full-back and a brilliant one at that.

Journalist Dean Jones has revealed on the Transfers from Paradise podcast via Patreon that Manchester City have made a “fresh approach” to sign Livramento.

Furthermore, City are prepared to pay in excess of £50 million to sign the 22-year-old and make him one of the most expensive defensive signings in their history.

However, only time will tell whether Newcastle’s stance of not selling Livramento changes in the next couple of weeks.

If Manchester City do end up paying more than £50 million to sign Livramento, he could become one of their six most expensive defensive signing of all time.

ANCHESTER CITY’S MOST EXPENSIVE DEFENDERS FEE
JOSKO GVARDIOL £77.6m
RUBEN DIAS £65m
JOAO CANCELO £60m
AYMERIC LAPORTE £57m
BENJAMIN MENDY £52m
KYLE WALKER £50m
JOHN STONES £47m

Eddie Howe discussed Newcastle’s potential outgoings by admitting that whether his players stay or leave, things should suit the club, saying: “All I would say on the broader picture is whatever happens has to be right for Newcastle. We’re in a very strong position financially, we’re determined to be successful, we are ambitious, we’ve got a great season ahead of us.

“We need to add to the squad and continue to improve, and the journey can continue on an upwards trajectory. I think that’s what we all want so that’s what we’re battling to try and achieve.”
