Netflix Announces NFL Documentary Highlighting Ohio State’s Historic National Championship
Netflix has officially announced a new sports documentary that will highlight Ohio State’s historic national championship victory, giving fans an in-depth look at one of the most memorable seasons in college football history. The documentary, produced in partnership with the NFL, will provide exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and never-before-seen moments from the Buckeyes’ legendary run.
The film will focus on Ohio State’s incredible 2014 season, in which they defied the odds to win the first-ever College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship. Under head coach Urban Meyer, the Buckeyes overcame key injuries—including losing starting quarterback Braxton Miller before the season and backup J.T. Barrett before the playoffs. Third-string QB Cardale Jones then stepped in to lead Ohio State to stunning victories over Alabama in the CFP semifinal and Oregon in the national championship game.
The documentary will feature interviews with key players such as Jones, Ezekiel Elliott, Joey Bosa, and others who played pivotal roles in Ohio State’s title run. It will also include perspectives from coaches, analysts, and fans who witnessed the Buckeyes’ rise to glory.
Netflix’s decision to collaborate with the NFL on this project aligns with its growing interest in sports documentaries, following successful productions like *Quarterback* and *Untold*. The documentary aims to capture not only the on-field moments but also the emotions, preparation, and challenges faced by the team throughout the season.
While an official release date has not been announced, the documentary is expected to premiere later this year. Buckeyes fans and college football enthusiasts can anticipate an exciting deep dive into one of the sport’s greatest Cinderella stories.
