New Evidence Casts Doubt on Kyren Lacy’s Involvement in Fatal Crash

In recent days, the legal team representing the late Kyren Lacy has publicly challenged the narrative that he caused the December 2024 accident that claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall.

Lacy’s attorney, Matt Ory, released surveillance footage and cited a district attorney’s report indicating that his client’s car was significantly behind the crash site at the moment of impact—over 70 yards behind, in fact.

According to Ory, the evidence undermines earlier assertions by Louisiana State Police that Lacy was passing multiple cars recklessly and triggered a chain reaction leading to the fatal head-on collision.

Ory also raised questions about inconsistencies in witness statements, potential investigatory shortcomings, and the fact that a passenger in Lacy’s car was not interviewed despite video evidence showing their presence. The district attorney’s findings, as cited by Ory, reportedly conclude that there is insufficient proof to establish that Lacy’s actions directly caused the crash.

Law enforcement continues to defend its original conclusions. In statements to media, the Louisiana State Police say their investigation—utilizing crash reconstruction experts and all available data—justified the arrest warrant and the charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle that Lacy was facing.

Lacy died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in April 2025, two days before a grand jury was scheduled to hear evidence in his case. His supporters and legal team maintain that the new evidence warrants a full reexamination of the case, and many are now calling for transparency and accountability in how the initial investigation was handled
