Newcastle United could finally be set to sign a new forward as major updates on Yoane Wissa, Nicolas Jackson and defender Malick Thiaw emerge.
This has been a dreadful summer for Newcastle United in the transfer market, though there is still time to save it.
Indeed, Newcastle have already brought in two players and already boast a squad packed with talent.
Key additions in some important areas would give Eddie Howe a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and the Champions League.
There are reasons to be positive, even if they are not always easy to find.
Wissa is one of them.

Newcastle United expected to sign Yoane Wissa
According to The Daily Mail, Wissa to Newcastle is now seen as likely.
The Brentford forward is keen to move to St James’ Park, which is not something that has often been said about targets this summer. The Bees could sign Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara as his replacement.
A deal worth £35million could be enough to land the DR Congo international, although there will come a point where PIF refuse to pay more for a player approaching 30.
The Newcastle United manager is said to be a big fan of the forward, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season.
Bayern Munich enter race for Nicolas Jackson
The news is less positive when it comes to Jackson, however.
Newcastle are interested in Jackson and Chelsea have confirmed the striker could leave this summer.
Still, the Senegal international may not end up at St James’.
According to German football insider Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have now entered the race for the 24-year-old.
While Plettenberg reiterates Newcastle’s interest, he adds that Bayern have made a tentative move to sign him.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Malick Thiaw latest
Newcastle remain interested in Thiaw, having tracked him last summer too.
AC Milan have rejected a bid from Newcastle for Thiaw, and the Italian giants would like to keep him next season.
Fabrizio Romano, however, has revealed that Newcastle are trying again.
He suggests that Newcastle have launched a fresh attempt to sign the defender this summer.
For their part, Milan will only accept an offer way above the 23-year-old’s market value.
