Newcastle United transfer news and rumours as Randal Kolo Muani contact made and Yoane Wissa becomes top target

Newcastle United are enduring a frustrating summer transfer window amid updates on Randal Kolo Muani, Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa.

Though they’ve gone for several players this summer, the fact remains that Newcastle United have signed only one player in the form of Anthony Elanga.

While Elanga looks a brilliant addition to the Newcastle United squad, he alone may not be enough to build on last season’s fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe has a Champions League campaign for which to prepare and Saturday’s pre-season defeat to Celtic highlighted the need for further additions.

With that in mind, here’s the latest on Kolo Muani, Isak and Wissa.

Newcastle United in contact over Randal Kolo Muani move

French striker Kolo Muani has been linked with Newcastle before.

The forward joined Juventus on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025, though his long-term future remains unclear.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Newcastle United are among the clubs who have made contact with the 26-year-old’s agents.

The Magpies and Manchester United are both said to be keen on a move for the France international, who has scored ten goals in 22 games for the Serie A giants.

Juve would like to keep the striker next season but are so far thinking about another loan deal with an option to buy him on a permanent basis further down the line.

As such, it could have opened the door to Premier League interest in the forward.

Newcastle are expected to launch a move for Wissa soon, but some insight from iNews puts further light on the matter.

The Brentford forward is now Newcastle’s top attacking target during what remains of the summer transfer window.

Still, the Bees are unlikely to make life easy for Newcastle. They have all but sold Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United now and would surely be gutted to lose both him and Wissa in the same window.

Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals in 35 appearances last season.

Liverpool move looking slightly less likely for Alexander Isak

Liverpool want to sign Isak, who was sent home from Newcastle’s pre-season defeat to Celtic on Saturday.

While the Sweden international wasn’t scheduled to play anyway as the club look to manage his minutes, Howe has confirmed that part of the decision to send him home was due to the speculation over his future.

Still, Liverpool are now closing in on a deal for Hugo Ekitike – a player Newcastle tried to sign.

Luckily for Newcastle fans, Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam suggested the idea of a move to Anfield this summer was looking unlikely for Isak, such is the expense of the Ekitike deal.

“The positive as far as Newcastle fans are concerned is that Liverpool spending the best part of €100million on Hugo Ekitike means that they don’t have €100million to spend on someone like Alexander Isak,” he said.

He added: “There are very few sides in European football that could afford the type of money that Newcastle want.”
