Hollywood, CA – June 2025
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has officially announced that Norman Eugene Walker, best known for his iconic role as Cheyenne Bodie in the groundbreaking western television series Cheyenne, will be posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the Class of 2025.
Walker, a towering figure in early television Westerns, made history as the first TV western hero to lead a prime-time series. His portrayal of Cheyenne Bodie, a rugged but principled cowboy, earned him legions of fans throughout the 1950s and ’60s and helped establish the Western as a staple of American TV culture.
Born in 1927, Walker was a former professional football player who transitioned into acting and quickly rose to fame. His stoic presence, imposing 6’6” frame, and quiet charisma made him a standout on screen. Cheyenne ran from 1955 to 1963 and became one of Warner Bros. Television’s biggest successes.
Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, stated: “Norman Eugene Walker’s contribution to television helped define an era. His role as Cheyenne Bodie wasn’t just entertainment — it became part of American cultural identity.”
Walker’s star will be placed in the Television category, and the unveiling ceremony is expected to draw fans, fellow actors, and TV historians alike. Members of his family and colleagues are expected to attend, paying tribute to a man whose influence still resonates in today’s portrayals of Western heroes.
Despite his passing in 2018, Walker’s legacy has endured through decades of reruns and the ongoing appreciation for classic television. The honor is a fitting recognition for a man who blazed trails not only through the Wild West — but also through Hollywood history.
