Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear that the club won’t be offloading players on the cheap and that he’s prepared to reintegrate them if necessary.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia were notably absent from the US tour – with Marcus Rashford heading out on loan to Barcelona – and have been training at Carrington with the so-called “bomb squad”.
Rashford was on loan at Aston Villa last season – but Unai Emery opted not to exercise the £40million purchase option – while the Villans have been credited with an interest in winger Garnacho.
And while United’s recent transfer strategies have come under fire, Amorim, speaking before the Premier League Summer Series game against West Ham, emphasised that chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox will not be exploited just to offload those deemed surplus to requirements.
“Some players have to find a new place to have more space in the team and others clearly show they want a new challenge and want new teams,” Amorim said.
“We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide. If we reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players.
