Sami Hyypia has already noticed Jeremie Frimpong is worse than Trent Alexander-Arnold in one area

Liverpool have experienced plenty of change this summer as they’ve splashed the cash in the transfer market.

Indeed, the Reds have signed no fewer than four big-money players already, and there could be more where that came from as Alexander Isak continues to be linked.

Florian Wirtz looks like an exciting signing, while his former Bayer Leverkusen teammate, Jeremie Frimpong, has also arrived.

Frimpong arrives to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold after his move to Real Madrid, and speaking to CGTN Sports, Sami Hyypia has highlighted one key difference between these two players.

Sami Hyypia has noticed a difference between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jeremie Frimpong

Hyypia spoke about Frimpong after he signed for Liverpool.

According to the pundit, Frimpong is very different to Alexander-Arnold, noting that he’s not as good a crosser as his predecessor.

However, Hyypia did note that Frimpong’s pace is an incredible attribute, noting that he can cause damage in the final third in that way.

“And then Jeremie Frimpong. He has different qualities, different strengths than Trent had. Jeremie is not as good a crosser of the ball as Trent was,” Hyypia said.

“He’s lightning quick, that’s his biggest strength, one against one he can go past people and he scored a few goals for Leverkusen as well, he had the allowance to go forward and even to score. Different strengths to Trent, but we need to understand his strengths and then play that way that he can play with his strengths as well.”

Hyypia says that Frimpong isn’t as good a crosser as Alexander-Arnold, and he’s not wrong.

Alexander-Arnold is one of the best in the world when it comes to crossing and even passing in general, so there’s no shame in falling short in that regard.

That said, Frimpong still has the ability to be creative, and his assist numbers aren’t a million miles away from Alexander-Arnold’s across his career.

309 Games 378
59 Assists 98
0.19 Assists per game 0.26

Yes, Alexander-Arnold’s numbers are still better, but Frimpong’s assist stats are still fantastic for a right-back.

Frimpong may not be as good a passer as Alexander-Arnold, but don’t be surprised if he has a serious attacking impact at Anfield this season.
