Wissa is a Newcastle United transfer target after the club shelved their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.
Ekitike now looks bound for Liverpool, though it’s not all bad news for Newcastle. Indeed, the Reds splashing huge cash on the Frenchman would surely mean they drop their interest in Alexander Isak.
Still, as good as keeping Isak is, the Sweden star needs help. Next season’s Champions League campaign will bring more games to the schedule, and the club have already lost one of his back-ups in the form of Callum Wilson.
With that in mind, Wissa looks a logical addition. Still, time is of the essence for Newcastle right now.

Newcastle United must act quickly to sign Yoane Wissa
According to Craig Hope of The Daily Mail on social media platform X, sources suggest that Newcastle will need to act quickly in the race for Wissa.
Rival interest from Tottenham is said to complicate matters, while Nottingham Forest have been linked with the DR Congo international and reportedly had a bid rejected earlier this summer.
The Bryan Mbeumo saga is another subplot. Manchester United are looking to sign the Brentford star, and the west London club may not want to lose both of their star forwards in a single window.
Yoane Wissa may give green light to Newcastle United move
Wissa wants to join a club playing in the Champions League this summer, which is a huge boost for Newcastle.
They qualified for Europe’s elite club competition in dramatic circumstances on the final day of the Premier League season.
That should give them a boost in any battle for Wissa this summer, though obviously Spurs can also offer Champions League football after winning the Europa League.
Former Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now in charge of the north London outfit too, and a reunion may appeal to Wissa.
