Steven N’Zonzi’s 10-year absence from Stoke City looks set to end as manager Mark Robins has confirmed the former Potters star is training with the team—but what did the midfielder think of his time in the West Midlands?

The former French international, who won the World Cup back in 2018, represented the club 120 times between 2012 and 2015 after arriving from then-relegated Blackburn Rovers.

 

He became somewhat of a fan-favourite, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s elite midfielders, which would earn him a move to La Liga side Sevilla.

 

Three years in Spain would see N’Zonzi continue his meteoric rise and help Los Nervionenses win their third Europa League trophy in 2016.

But his time since, however, has been a little more turbulent with the now 36-year-old racing towards the end of his playing career.

Brief spells at Roma, Galatasaray, Rennes, Al-Rayyan, and Konyaspor would be followed by his most recent venture with Persian Gulf Pro League outfit Sepahan, where he won the Iranian Super Cup last year
